Lightweight, portable clips allows user to view iPad at 33-degree, 45-degree stand positions, fully funded on Kickstarter
Los Angeles- July 11, 2012- A Los Angeles entrepreneur and app developer discovered a simple solution to a common problem: finding the perfect iPad angle for viewing multimedia. Dotan Saguy introduced Smarter Stand on Kickstarter which successfully surpassed its initial funding goal in the first 24 hours, and is expected to begin shipping this Fall. Saguy’s ingenious clips makes the iPad Smart Cover (or Smart Case) even smarter by allowing for multiple stand positions without adding any bulk.
“My goal with Smarter Stand was to achieve a comfortable viewing angle for my iPad as the Apple covers are too limiting,” says Saguy. “I am thrilled that the Kickstarter community has rallied in support of the Smarter Stand, and I can’t wait for the product to reach the consumers.”
Apple’s Smart Cover, alone, only offers two positions for multimedia viewing- one that many say props the iPad up too upright and is not stable enough, and one that is too low. These angles are neither practical nor ergonomic for many common iPad activities such as browsing the Web, watching movies or reading. Smarter Stand changes all of that, and is designed to work easily with one’s existing Smart Cover.
Smarter Stand is composed of two clips that attach to either side of the Smart Cover or Smart Case. With the Smart Cover, a non-slip pad that sticks to the back side of the iPad is also provided to stabilize the iPad. With the Smart Case, no pad is needed since the polyurethane of the back cover provides the necessary grip. Simply slide the clips over certain folds in order to keep portions of the cover straight; thus, creating new viewing angles. For instance, one can now prop the iPad at a 33-degree angle (ideal for browsing) and a 45-degree angle (perfect for video chats or watching movies).
