Ok so Consumer Reports publishes a slew of reports ranging from cell phones to cars and kitchen appliances. Now in these reports they rate how well the product performs and how well other similar products perform. This is where it will get very tricky. Consumer Reports put out a report saying how AT&T has the best 4G service, however they have the worst customer service. So when I talked to AT&T about the reports I was told about how great they did in 4G service but they also had THIS to say about the customer service report.

Then you look at what Mike Gikas, senior electronics editor at Consumer Reports had to say about Verizon – NBCNews
“Verizon stands out from the pack if you are a heavy-duty data user. They’re the Cadillac network. They’re pricey in some respects, but in terms of overall quality of service and availability of service, they are the overall leader.”
So how does that make you feel when you are choosing a mobile carrier. Do you go for the best service OR customer service. For me it comes down to how the device performs. What good is customer service if the device won’t stand up to what is promised?
Then you look at the full report and they concluded that Verizon was the best MAJOR cellphone carrier it wasn’t however the best OVERALL. Consumer Reports survey examines voice, data, and customer service across the wireless space.
Here is the actual ranking of the seven carriers included, from highest to lowest rating:
1. Consumer Cellular
2. U.S. Cellular
3. Credo Mobile
4. Verizon Wireless
6. T-Mobile USA
Consumer Cellular and Credo are actually mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) that rely on other carriers’ networks to deliver their service. Interestingly, Consumer Cellular relies on AT&T’s network. Credo uses Sprint’s network. –CNET
So question is, do you prefer performance or customer service?
